Executive Director of Southwest Community Corporation, has dedicated over 25 years to serving the public. The majority of this time has been spent in the Low Income Housing Tax Credit, Property Management, and Housing Development arena. Ms. Thibodeaux also has several years of experience in the Legal Field but holds her years in Manufacturing and Production at the New United Motor and Manufacturing Inc. (NUMMI) in high regard. During her tenure at NUMMI, she gained extensive knowledge of the Toyota Production System (TPS), with its core principles of Kaizen (Constant Improvement), Respect (making every effort to understand each other, taking responsibility, and building mutual trust), and Teamwork (stimulating personal and professional growth, sharing development opportunities, maximizing individual and team performance). She emphasizes that these principles are transferable across all industries. Her management decisions are grounded in a long-term philosophy, often prioritizing it over short-term financial goals. Highly skilled in Business Process Reorganization, she successfully transformed her former employer from a family-based, mom-and-pop senior-serving organization into a more efficient and environmentally conscious entity, gaining national recognition for their services that support seniors aging in place.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Felisia is a leader in her community and a staunch advocate for low-income, underserved, and disenfranchised residents. Her work has spanned diverse populations, including individuals with disabilities, HIV/Aids, Special Needs, Mental Health challenges, and Substance Use Disorder. She has effectively bridged cultural and linguistic divides. Felisia is a dedicated proponent of Social Justice and has authored and led workshops that teach communities how to navigate the affordable housing application process ("Get Rent Ready"). She provides guidance to those facing barriers when preparing for the challenging task of moving ("MOVE") and has developed housing retention programs that assist management companies and housing developments in fostering more productive communities ("RETAIN").
Felisia is at the forefront of community resilience efforts and coordinates Resilient Bayview, a collaboration involving the Empowering Communities Program and the NEN Neighborhood Empowering Network. This initiative facilitates meetings and training sessions that help communities address resilience post-disaster. She also serves on the Board for CASE (Coalition of Agencies Serving the Elderly). As the Founder/Creator of "You Go Girl," a Youth Leadership Academy program, Felisia is deeply committed to helping inner-city girls unlock their potential, cultivate leadership skills, and become community stewards. Her multifaceted career reflects a profound dedication to community service, empowerment, and positive change.
